Evert Akkerman CHRL, LL.M.(NL) is an HR advisor based in Newmarket, Ontario. After gaining experience as HR manager at a financial institution, Evert founded XNL HR in 2012.

Serving as an outsourced HR department for clients, he provides practical solutions to entrepreneurs and executives, striving to maximize productivity and minimize exposure.

​

Clients have consistently highlighted Evert's disciplined approach to HR and described him as thorough, knowledgeable, responsive, focused, professional, approachable, enthusiastic, innovative and inclusive.

As an opinion leader in HR, his articles have been published in various media, including the Canadian HR Reporter, HR Professional Magazine, Municipal World Magazine, Risk & Business Magazine, Ottawa Life Magazine, Talent Canada, The Lawyer’s Daily, and Canadian Running.

In 2015, Evert won the inaugural Randstad Canada Talent Award for Innovation in HR. In 2016 and 2017, the Canadian HR Reporter awarded him a spot in Canada’s Top-25 HR Professionals.

Outside of practising HR and writing, Evert is a veteran of 10 marathons and one ultramarathon.
